How do I get to Sonoma Raceway?
Sonoma Raceway is located at 29355 Arnold Drive, Sonoma, CA 95476, just north of the intersection at Highways 37 and 121 in southeast Sonoma County. We have two primary entrances: Gate 1, our main entrance, and Gate 7 (.8 mile north of Gate 1) both located on Arnold Drive (Highway 121). On NASCAR Sunday, we open a third entrance, Gate 9, on Lakeville Highway, 1.1 miles north of Highway 37.
How will I know which gate to enter?
During major-event weekends, only guests with an issued parking permit, ADA parking permits and motorcycles can enter through Gate 1. All other guests should enter at Gate 7 or, on NASCAR Sunday, Gate 9 (the Lakeville Highway entrance). For day-to-day business or smaller events, you will enter at Gate 1.
Directions from primary traffic arteries:
From Highway 101

Travel 8 miles until you reach the intersection of Highways 37 and 121
Make a left onto Highway 121 toward Sonoma
Gate 1 is one-half mile ahead on your left
Exit onto Highway 37 west toward Novato

Merge right onto Highway 121 toward Sonoma
Gate 1 is one-half mile ahead on your left
What should I expect upon arriving and where will I park?
If you already have your tickets, please have them out and ready for scanning upon driving onto the raceway property. If you have a parking permit, it should be displayed on your rearview mirror. The friendly folks at the gates will direct you to where you need to go for parking. Tickets may also be purchased at the gates with cash or credit cards.
Sonoma Raceway is a big place, spread out over many acres, with 14 spacious parking lots, so we always have guides to direct you to where you will park. After parking your car as directed by our Parking Guides, you will see Track Ambassadors in blue polo shirts or blue jackets who will hand you a Fan Guide and parking lot locator to help you find your parking lot after the race.
Does it cost anything to park?
No, general parking is free. However, for the NHRA event, a limited number of permits are available for purchase. You can also purchase Pre-paid Tailgate Parking in Lots 12 or 13, close to the Turns 7 and 9 Terrace seats for the NASCAR and IndyCar event weekends. Parking passes must be purchased a week in advance of the event by calling one of our Ticket Representatives at 800-870-7223 ext. 2.
What time should I arrive?
Check the website for a complete schedule of on- and off-track activities to determine what you'd like to see. For major events plan to arrive at least two hours before the start of the race to locate your seats and take advantage of all the non-racing activities and pre-race events around the raceway.
What about pre-race traffic getting to the raceway?
Traffic can be very sluggish on race day, especially for NASCAR. Coming from the East Bay or Sacramento usually means you will travel westbound on Highway 37, which narrows to one lane in each direction and can be severely impacted.
Consider alternate routes to avoid congestion on westbound Highway 37 from Vallejo and southbound Highway 121 from Sonoma and Napa. (Both Highway 37--from Vallejo to the 121 intersection--and Highway 121 are single-lane roads in each direction and can quickly back up during race weekends.)
Traveling to the raceway from the East or South Bay
- An alternate route from the East or South Bay, from I-80, is to travel on I-580 across the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge to Highway 101. Travel north on Highway 101 to eastbound Highway 37. From eastbound Highway 37 you can access Gate 9 (NASCAR Sunday only) on Lakeville Road and Gates 1 and 7 on northbound Highway 121.
Traveling to the raceway from Sonoma or Napa
- An alternate route from Sonoma or Napa, from Highway 12 or Arnold Drive, is to use Highway 116 toward Petaluma. Travel west on Highway 116 to Lakeville Road. From southbound Lakeville Road you can enter Gate 9 (NASCAR Sunday only) or Gates 1 and 7 by making a left on eastbound Highway 37 to Highway 121.
Smartphone Apps like Waze and Google Maps can be helpful in determining the best route to Sonoma Raceway.
Other travel options for NASCAR:
For our NASCAR event, look into other transportation options, including the Raceway Fun Train (formerly the NASCAR Express) from Sacramento, with stops in Davis and Suisun or the Sports Fan Express bus program (http://www.racesonoma.com/ftickets/bus_transportation/).
What if I am picking up my tickets at Will Call?
During NASCAR weekend, Will Call is located at the Gate 9 entrance on Lakeville Highway. For all other events, Will Call is located at Gate 1, just after you enter the raceway on the right-hand side behind a stone block wall. Gate 1 is the main entrance to the facility located on Highway 121. You will need a photo I.D. to pick up your tickets at Will Call.
Is motorcycle parking available?
Motorcycle riders should enter through Gate 1 (main entrance). After passing through the gate, you will make a left turn up the hill. Motorcycles are parked along that road on "Motorcycle Hill."Is Sonoma Raceway ADA friendly? You bet; during our major events shuttles run around the entire facility throughout the day. Where are the best places to see the race?
This depends on what you are most interested in seeing; for the best overall view of the entire road course, Turn 9 is the place to be. For lots of racing action and passing, you should choose Turn 7. To see the frenzy of Pit Lane, you will need to sit in the Main Grandstand. Turn 2 offers splendid, expansive views of the track and the landscape around the raceway. Bear in mind that all of the seating areas, except for the upper grandstand, are non-shaded, so come prepared for a day in the sun.
For the NHRA Sonoma National drag races your seating choices are limited to either side of the drag strip in the Main Grandstand or in our Tower Reserved Grandstand. To be as close to the action as possible, you'll want to sit in the Tower Reserved Grandstand, or purchase a $10 upgrade to stand in Thunder Alley in front of the Main Grandstand, but in either case be sure to wear ear protection.
Are there ATMs at the raceway?
Permanent ATMs are located at the Raceway Café and behind Section A of the Main Grandstand. During the NASCAR and IndyCar events, additional ATMs are located behind the Main Grandstand and terrace seating areas. At the NHRA event, additional ATMs can be found behind the Tower Reserved Grandstand. Please refer to the event Fan Guide when you arrive at the raceway for exact locations.
Do you have food and beverage choices for purchase?
Yes, you can find many choices to ease your hunger and quench your thirst at Sonoma Raceway. Check out our Sonoma Taqueria at Turn 2 and the Sears Point Grille and Grille Garden at the north end of the Main Grandstand. Please bring cash, as many vendors are not able to accept credit cards.
