The West Coast Outlaw Pro Mod Association took part in an action-packed weekend of bracket drag racing at Sonoma Raceway, March 2-3.  In addition to the pro mods, the Bracket Drags weekend also featured drag racing in 10 classes including Super Pro ET, Pro ET, Sportsman, Motorcycle and Trophy.

Great weather and track conditions set the stage for incredibly fast racing in Sonoma. LaVerne’s Dan Nickelson broke the West Coast Outlaw Pro Mod Association record for low ET on Sunday, March 3, with a time of 5.706 seconds at 251.53 mph.  The weekend also featured the quickest side-by-side race in Association history when Danville’s Marc Meadors (5.759 seconds, 252.24 mph) edged out Mike Maggio (5.778, 256.50) in the semifinal round.

Other winners from Sunday’s drag racing action included: Napa’s Gene Fridolfs (Super Pro); Cloverdale’s Jeff LaSalle (Pro ET); Elk Grove’s Mike Spellman (Sportsman ET); Petaluma’s Randy Monte (Motorcycle); Vacaville’s Bryan Hoff (Trophy); Atwater’s Mark Lawson (A/Gas); Rocklin’s Kevin McClain (B/Gas); Hollister’s Mike Mangano (C/Gas); Redwood City’s Dan Ficher (D/Gas); and Oakley’s Ken Parks (E/Gas).

Saturday’s winner included Santa Rosa’s Marc Power (Super Pro ET); St. Helena’s Mike Mitchell (Pro ET); Napa’s Dwayne Opperman (Sportsman ET); San Jose’s Trace St. Germain (Motorcycle ET); and Concord’s Nick Bublitz (Trophy).
